Established in 2022

The Demarco Lab started at the University of Louisville in the Fall of 2022. The lab is currently recruiting undergraduate and graduate students interested in working with genetics, stem cells and metabolism. ​

Diversity Goals

The Demarco lab is a welcoming space for anyone who is interested in our science. Diversity rules, and we need more of it in STEM. ​

Rafael Sênos Demarco
PI

Dr. Demarco is originally from Rio de Janeiro (Brazil), and obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Kansas in Molecular, Cell and Developmental Biology. He then joined the laboratory of Dr. Leanne Jones at the Salk Institute (San Diego, CA), then UCLA and UCSF. Dr. Demarco joined the University of Louisville as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biology in 2022. He is a trained stem cell biologist with interests in metabolism and development.
